The Two Sides of Sound

I am influenced by music as profoundly as my vocabulary is enriched by reading. If there has ever been a best friend in my life it would be music.

I do not play an instrument but I am learning to play the guitar. It might take the rest of my life, but I think I have the time to keep learning and practice. (Now if only my fingers would cooperate!) I could listen to someone play the guitar for hours on end!

All I know is that I lack the intellectual ability to adequately describe my friend. Maybe it cannot be described; it can only be felt where words fall flat. But my friend does have two faces; the feeling part and the understanding part. I find that musical scores from movies are very powerful for both what I hear and FEEL in my soul.

The first YouTube video I attached below is a piece of music that is FELT. Sure, I hear it but I FEEL IT more. It is happy and bouncy. It makes me want to go grab someone and start dancing down the street. It is fluid movement. It reminds me of what the view in a Walter Scott novel would SOUND like on a Spring day. (I could not care less if you get me or not.)

The music that is heard are the songs with lyrics that speak to whatever mood I find myself drowning. This is where music understands me when nobody else does.

When people are scarce and life seems lonely I have my friend.

THIS MUSIC IS FELT

THIS SONG SPEAKS TO ME

LOVE THIS!
